Tuesday September 1st,2015 fire in the 10th Ave Building
There was a serious apartment fire on the 33rd floor of the 1oth Ave Building this afternoon Sept.1,2015 The staff and neighbors responded quickly when the fire alarms went off....a staff member actually was able to remove the injured tenant and ,the wonderful actor Dylan Baker tried to get to her prior but was repelled by smoke and flames. A staff member 1st on the scene also tried to reach her but was also driven back by the thick smoke. The Fire Department was here within 2 minutes and they pulled the tenant from the burning apartment. A big "Thank You" to those staff members and neighbors who risked their own safety and to the amazing NYC Fire Department. According to ABC/Ch 7 in New York, the tenant was taken to Mt Sinai/Roosevelt where she was transferred to Cornell Weill Burn Center We, here @ Manhattan Plaza are very lucky and grateful also to so many Elected Officials who called us to check that we were okay from Scott Stringer/Corey Johnson/Community Board 4 /Jerry Nadler's Offices and more who were quickly in touch AND on scene checking on our well being! ...and we've been checking on our neighbors as well.
Before you go to bed tonight please read your Fire Safety pamphlet that comes w/your lease. UPDATE Thursday morning September 3rd: The tenant passed away despite speedy and professional intervention on Wednesday afternoon.
