Book, Magazine, Video, CD Exchange

1 to 4 pm - Ellington Room
The MPTA will host a FREE book, magazine, video, CD/DVD exchange on Sunday, October 16, 1 to 4 pm, in the Ellington Room, 400 Building, 2nd floor. This is a wonderful opportunity to give away those gently used great books, CD's DVD's and magazines to others here at Manhattan Plaza. THIS IS FREE !!!!
Between 12:30 and 1 pm bring your give-away items to the Ellington Room. Please have them sorted by category. Tables will be designated by type and category for easy distribution.
From 1 to 4 pm, all tenants are welcome to explore these treasures and take whatever they like. First come, first served. See the flyer below for further information.
At the July 11, 2016 General MPTA Meeting the following persons were elected to three newly-created positions (under the amended MPTA Constitution dated November 9, 2015). The are:

They join the current Executive Committee Members and will serve with them until the next annual election of officers to be held in December 2016.

THE ACTORS FUND AND THE RODNEY KIRK CENTER
At the December 15 MPTA meeting, Barbara S. Davis, Chief Operating Officer and Tamar Shapiro, Director of Social Services of The Actors Fund briefed MP tenants and answered questions about The Actors Fund assuming management of the Rodney Kirk Center here at Manhattan Plaza. Their plan is to enhance the social services already in place and add new ones such as the recent Medicare seminars. In 2016 the MPTA will work with The Actors Fund and the Center to inform tenants about the new programs and services. Watch this website, the lobby bulletin boards and the MPTA Newsletters for more information.
The Rodney Kirk Center is located on the first floor of the 400 Building and is open Mon-Fri, 9 am to 5 pm. Telephone: (212) 971-0660. Services are available to ALL MP tenants.
Officer Maria L. Candres with the Domestic Violence Unit of the NYPD 10th Precinct addressed the June MPTA Meeting. She spoke about how concerned citizens should call 911 to report domestic violence crimes in progress and call if 311 to report suspected abuse of anyone including the elderly, children and pets. She distributed flyers describing the NYC Adult Protective Services Unit to those present, answered questions and spoke individually with tenants. Copies of the flyers are posted below.
