EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS FOR THREE NEW VACANT OFFICES TO BE HELD JULY 11, 2016
Under Section 2.8, Officers of the MPTA,of the updated MPTA Constitution dated November 9, 2015, three additional Executive Committee officer positions were created which are 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President and Assistant Treasurer, and the duties are described below:
3.7b. Vice President and 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents: The Vice President and 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents shall assist the President in carrying out the duties of that office. In the absence of the President, the Vice President or 2nd or 3rd Vice President, in succession, shall assume the title and duties of Acting President.
3.7d. Assistant Treasurer: The Assistant Treasurer shall assist the Treasurer and take over the duties of Treasurer when the Treasurer is unable to perform them. When temporarily performing the Treasurer’s duties, the Assistant Treasurer shall assume the title of Acting Treasurer.
The Constitution also states:
2.8b Office Becomes Vacant During Term: In the event that an office becomes vacant during the period for which an officer was elected, an election should take place at the next General Membership Meeting. Only those members may vote who have attended at least three (3) monthly membership meetings in the previous twelve (12) months and have paid dues for the previous and/or current year.

Elections for these three positions will be held Monday, July 11. Persons wishing to run should notify the current Executive Committee in writing via a note in the MPTA lobby box or email at email@example.com so their names may be placed on the written ballot and the meeting agenda. Each person who wishes to run will also be asked to speak for no more than 2 minutes to state his/her reasons for running for a particular office and qualifications.

For individuals without computer access, a hard copy will be provided upon written request. Just leave a note with your name, building and apartment # and one will be delivered to your door.

2016 MPTA BLOCK SALE SCHEDULED
FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
We are currently in the planning phase of the Manhattan Plaza Tenants Association Block Sale for Saturday, September 24, 2016, pending receipt of a permit.
The last Block Sale was two years ago and it was extremely successful. As Manhattan Plaza approaches its 40th birthday in 2017, we are declaring that this year's pre-birthday Block Sale will be festive, successful and fun. To make this year a great celebration of our miracle on 43rd Street, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. All positions are open. We welcome your special skills.

THE ACTORS FUND AND THE RODNEY KIRK CENTER
At the December 15 MPTA meeting, Barbara S. Davis, Chief Operating Officer and Tamar Shapiro, Director of Social Services of The Actors Fund briefed MP tenants and answered questions about The Actors Fund assuming management of the Rodney Kirk Center here at Manhattan Plaza. Their plan is to enhance the social services already in place and add new ones such as the recent Medicare seminars. In 2016 the MPTA will work with The Actors Fund and the Center to inform tenants about the new programs and services. The Rodney Kirk Center is located on the first floor of the 400 Building and is open Mon-Fri, 9 am to 5 pm. Telephone: (212) 971-0660. Services are available to ALL MP tenants.
Officer Maria L. Candres with the Domestic Violence Unit of the NYPD 10th Precinct addressed the June MPTA Meeting. She spoke about how concerned citizens should call 911 to report domestic violence crimes in progress and call if 311 to report suspected abuse of anyone including the elderly, children and pets. She distributed flyers describing the NYC Adult Protective Services Unit to those present, answered questions and spoke individually with tenants. Copies of the flyers are posted below.
